Getting Started with Interactive Whiteboards for Educators
Service Description:
If you can use a computer, you can use an interactive whiteboard. The SMART Board interactive whiteboard is very easy to use. Participants will learn how to connect the touch-sensitive display to their computer and projector to show a computer image. Participants will also learn to control applications from the display with their finger, write notes in digital ink and save their work to share later.
Goal:
Participants will learn the basics of how to use the SMART Board interactive board to facilitate student and adult learning.
Objectives:
Participants will gain an understanding of:
the hardware components required for setup
how to use the SMART On-screen Keyboard and the buttons and pens of the SMART Pen Tray
how to orient the interactive whiteboard
how to write on the interactive whiteboard and capture notes/drawings into Notebook software
how to insert notes as graphics or text into a Microsoft Word Document or Excel spreadsheet
how to present a Microsoft PowerPoint slide show on the interactive whiteboard
how to save notes in a PowerPoint presentation
how to capture notes from a PowerPoint presentation into Notebook software
Outcomes/Deliverable:
Participants will leave the session with:
knowledge of general information about how to set-up and use the SMART Board interactive whiteboard.
knowledge of how to use Ink Aware applications without using Notebook software.
the URLs of several interactive websites that can be used with the SMART Board interactive whiteboard to engage elementary aged students.
suggestions for using NYC Core Curriculum Supplemental Materials with the SMART Board interactive whiteboard to engage elementary aged students.
